ABOUT ME

I am Che Lorde, and I am currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering at York University: Lassonde School of Engineering. I have a passion for tech-stewardship and design engineering, and my goal is to become a Mechanical Design Engineer whose solutions push the boundaries of innovation and prioritize inclusivity. Outside of class, I enjoy reading, drawing, working out, and rollerblading. I actively contribute to York University's robotics team as a senior member, challenge myself to learn new skills by participating in hackathons, and bring my passion and drive to the workplace. Over the past few years, I've honed my skills in coding, hardware programming, machining, and 3D modeling to leverage them in order to solve complex problems both in academia and the workplace.

WORK EXPERINCE
I have had the privilege to work across varying positions, from tutoring mathematics to mechanical design - and each role has granted me with new skills I can use to grow as a professional engineer. My first major position was at HandiFuel as their lead mechanical design engineer where I utilized advanced mechanical design concepts to overcome mechanical challenges, as well as employing project management techniques to ensure the project was completed smoothly. I currently work part-time at Kumon where I utilize my strong communication skills and ability to multi-task to to guarantee that students have a fulfilling experience.
EDUCATION
I attended Saint Mother Teresa Catholic Academy for high-school where I graduated with honors in 2017. During my time there I participated in several extra curriculars such as NSBE's robotics team where I had the opportunity to travel overseas for competitions. I now attend York University where I am pursuing a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering at Lassonde School of Engineering. At York, I am heavily involved in the York University Robotics Society on the rover team as a senior member, and I enjoy participating in hackathons to further my learning.

PORTFOLIO
I've always enjoyed drawing and crafting ever since I was a child, and I even used to construct my own toys. It was this passion for crafting and creating that led me down the path of Mechanical Engineering, in hopes of creating my own invention. I continue to nurture this passion by working on a wide range of projects that help me apply what I have learned in my classes, in addition to refining my technical skills.
